A block from the ocean is a different environment from a mile inland. Salt carried on the wind works on metal fasteners, flashing and drip edge, and sustained onshore wind finds any shingle that was not sealed properly. The failures we see at the Beaches are rarely in the field of the roof; they start at the edges and the penetrations.

That shapes how we install here. Starter strip and drip edge get particular attention, flashing is done properly rather than caulked, and every penetration is treated as a place water will try to get in, because at the Beaches it will.
